Passaic County Authorities reported that Ms. Imani McRae, 31, from Paterson, was arrested in relation to a carjacking investigation that took place on August 12, in the area of 20th Avenue and Railroad Avenue.
Police say McRae is charged with Carjacking, First Degree; Robbery Second Degree; Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Second Degree; Terroristic Threats (2 counts), Third Degree; and Aggravated Assault, (2 Counts) Fourth Degree.
In addition, Ms. McRae is charged with Eluding, Third Degree; Aggravated Assault, Fourth Degree; and Hindering Apprehension, Fourth Degree, based on charges stemming from the arrest.
According to police, at approximately 12:35 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 20th Avenue and Railroad Avenue on a report of a carjacking.
Upon arrival, members of the Paterson Police Department were flagged down by a 41-year-old female and a 47-year-old female who advised they were employed by a New Jersey Agency and were transporting Imani McRae and her seven-year-old child to Paterson.
When they arrived in the area of 20th Avenue and Railroad Avenue, Ms. McRae became agitated and assaulted the 41-year-old female and the 47-year-old female while in the motor vehicle.
Both victims were forced to exit the vehicle, at which point Ms. McRae fled the scene in the motor vehicle with the seven-year-old juvenile.
An immediate investigation was launched to try to ascertain the location of Ms. McRae and the seven-year-old juvenile.
The Paterson Police Department later located the seven-year-old juvenile at approximately 2:25 p.m. in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Franklin Street.
Ms. McRae was shortly thereafter apprehended by the Sayreville Police Department at approximately 4:33 p.m. in the area of Radford Ferry Road in South Amboy, New Jersey, with the assistance of the South Amboy Police Department.
