Residents in Newark are starting their Tuesday bundled up as a winter-like chill settles over the city despite dry conditions and plenty of sunshine expected throughout the day.

As of 4:30 a.m., temperatures in downtown Newark were hovering around 42 degrees, with little to no wind chill.
For early commuters heading to work or school, the cold will be noticeable—and it’s expected to feel colder as the day goes on.
According to the National Weather Service, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies through mid-morning, transitioning to full sunshine later in the day.
However, don’t let the sun fool you. Strong west winds are expected to pick up, increasing from 13 to 18 mph to a brisk 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Wind gusts could reach as high as 43 mph, sending real-feel temperatures into the mid to upper 30s.
The high for the day will be near 46 degrees, but with the gusty conditions, residents are advised to keep their coats handy.
Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, but temperatures will plunge to around 27 degrees. Factoring in the wind, it could feel as cold as 15 to 20 degrees overnight.

Bundle up, Newark — it may be spring on the calendar, but winter is still making its presence felt.
