Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to brutally cold conditions this Wednesday morning.At 4:30 a.m., temperatures in Newark hovered at 23 degrees, but a biting windchill made it feel like a frosty 12 degrees.

With winter in full swing, the windchill is the big story of the day. Sussex County is feeling the chill at 6 degrees, Morristown is at 8, and Haledon registers at 9 degrees.

According to the National Weather Servictoday'sy’s forecast predicts sunny skies with a high near 33 degrees.
Wind chill values will remain between 10 and 20 degrees, accompanied by a brisk northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph. Tonight, the skies will be mostly clear, and temperatures will dip to around 21 degrees.
