The National Weather Service meteorologists say residents in Newark and the North Jersey region should anticipate a chance of showers and the return of hazy skies today.
While the hazy, smoky skies conditions may not be as severe as in previous instances, staying informed and taking necessary precautions is essential.
According to the latest weather data from The National Weather Service, there is a 30% chance of showers, with the possibility of thunderstorms after 8 a.m.
The day will start off mostly sunny, with a high near 80 degrees. However, as the afternoon progresses, widespread haze is expected to settle in, affecting some visibility and air quality.
According to NWS forecasters, the wind will be coming from the northwest at speeds ranging from 8 to 14 mph, providing some relief from the humidity. The current humidity level stands at 81%, contributing to the muggy conditions experienced in the region.
The barometer reading is at 29.65, indicating atmospheric pressure.
Looking ahead, air quality is expected to deteriorate Saturday afternoon, causing smoky conditions.
Take necessary precautions to protect your health if venturing outdoors, such as wearing masks or limiting outdoor activities if air quality becomes a problem.
