Wildfire Burns in Livingston Township, Essex County

Fire crews from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and the Livingston Fire Department have made significant progress in controlling a wildfire that broke out near Route 10 (Mt. Pleasant Avenue) and Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston, Essex County.AdThe fire, which has scorched 120 acres so far, is 60% contained as of early this morning. Once containment is complete, the total area is expected to reach approximately 190 acres.

New Jersey Forest Fire Service officials said  the wildfire initially threatened 48 structures in the area, but efforts by the fire service have reduced that number to 10.

Fortunately, no evacuations have been ordered, and crews remain vigilant in protecting the threatened buildings.

Livingston Police have closed several roads due to the ongoing operations.

Eisenhower Parkway southbound, Naylon Avenue, Dorsa Avenue, and Industrial Parkway remain closed, while Route 10 and the northbound lanes of Eisenhower Parkway have reopened to traffic.

In total, 15 fire engines and 45 firefighters have been deployed to assist with containment.AdThe cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Authorities plan to provide the next update at approximately 10 a.m., and the Livingston Fire Department and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service will hold a press conference at Livingston Fire Department Headquarters at that time.
