Wifepreneur Wisdom: When You're No Longer Aligned With Your Husband

By: O.L./Sway Buckley

When it comes to alignment as marriedpreneurs, it's a loaded topic.

We are not the same individuals as we were when we got married. Our relationship goes through different shifts and seasons, too, as a result. We constantly change inwardly, so we must be intentional about staying aligned. It doesn't happen on its own.

Then there's the business. Whether you are spousal-preneurs (where only one spouse is the business owner), indie-preneurs (where both spouses operate individual businesses), or couple-preneurs (where both spouses are operating the same business together), the business will impact your marriage. As the business shifts, there will be shifts in your marriage.

In my experience, there's only one way to do that. But we'll talk about that in a moment.

Here are some areas that often contribute to getting out of alignment:

  • Change of workflow: When workflows change (whether more streamlined or become more complicated), it can disrupt the normal rhythm of business-which ultimately can jolt how you were once aligned on how to accomplish a goal
  • Mental capacity:  As seasons change, our bodies change, and often our capacity changes. What may have once worked for you may now drain you. When the grace lifts, alignment shifts.
  • Upleveled expectations: When clarity comes, expectations often change with that clarity. As we are learning new things each day, it's no surprise why expectations change. When expectations change, often, alignment shifts too.
  • Decrease/Increase In Workload: Either change can cause you to drift from the original goal.

These are just a few examples that can require re-alignment between husband and wife business partners. So many uncontrollable daily living scenarios can play a role in getting out of alignment. It's a natural thing to happen. But it doesn't have the stay that way.

As mentioned previously, the one way to stay in alignment with each other is to 1) plan the win together and 2) tweak the plan often together. The tool we use to win at this is our daily legacy meetings and the Marriedpreur Operating Systems.

If you have been feeling out of alignment with your spouse, don't ignore it. Lean into where you are now. Start with a legacy meeting to clear the air and build from there. If you need support with starting, join us for our free Q2 Marriredpreneur Systems Masterclass. We'll be covering simple strategies to grow in alignment and business assets.
