Authorities are on the search for suspects who occupied a vehicle that led police in the Union County town of Westfield on a pursuit that ended in Newark early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, Westfield Police officers attempted to pull over a U-Haul vehicle that refused to stop after breaking several traffic laws in their city before 4 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle ignored officer's lights and sirens then sped away ultimately leading them onto the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway where the driver of the vehicle exit at Route 22 east towards Hillside according to reports.
With police following the vehicle, the driver sped across Route 22 where he entered the Newark city limits.
Westfield officers terminated the pursuit in Newark where NJ State Police and NPD were notified.
The driver of the U-Haul reportedly damaged several cars in Fanwood during the incident but there were no physical injuries reported.
