A 25-year-old West Orange man was sentenced yesterday to 18 months in prison for his role in an ATM skimming device scheme in New Mexico.
According to U.S. Attorney's Office, Michael Silva, stole account information from bank customers in three counties in New Mexico during March and April 2015.
The data and pin codes were then used to make new ATM cards.
Silva used at least one fraudulent card to withdraw $600 from a an Albuquerque ATM.
Silva was taken into custody Sept. 11 of last year but not till Nov. 12, of the same year, did he plead guilty to two counts of access device fraud.
After completing his prison term, Silva will have three years of supervised release.
