Authorities in Hudson County have charged a 40-year-old man with the fatal stabbing of a woman in West New York on Tuesday, February 7.
According to West New York Police, Jimmy Elvira-Quintero, of West New York, is charged with Murder, a crime of the first degree; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (knife), a crime of the third degree; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife), a crime of the fourth degree.
Police say Elvira-Quintero is in custody at Hackensack University Medical Center and will be transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility when cleared.
At approximately 5:54 a.m., the West New York Police Department was notified of an injured person in the 4000 block of Murphy Place.
According to officials, responding officers located the lifeless body of a female – later identified as 24-year-old Daniela Garcia-Murillo – with apparent stab wound(s) to the abdomen.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:31 a.m.
The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
This matter is being investigated as an act of domestic violence.
