Forecasters from the National Weather Service has issues a blizzard warning that will go in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday to noon EST Sunday.
Forecasters said that the five boroughs of New York City, coastal portions of Northeast New Jersey, and Long Island is in the direct path of heavy snow and high winds.
Heavy snow along with strong and potentially damaging winds will blow and drift with near zero visibilities this Saturday afternoon and evening forecasters said.
The national weather service are expecting snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches in parts of Northern NJ with wind gusting between 25 to 35 mph. Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 30 degrees.
Forecasters believe that extremely dangerous travel conditions will be in effect due to heavy snowfall and strong winds with whiteout conditions.
State and local officials are preparing to heavily plow secondary and tertiary roads and have said some may become impassable.
Officials urge residents in some municipalities to expect strong winds that may down power lines and tree limbs.
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected and is occurring forecasters said.
If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you forecasters urge.
