Police took a male into custody and charged him with possession of a weapon after a motor vehicle stop in a section of Jersey City Sunday night.
According to preliminary reports, police conducted a routine traffic stop of a vehicle that violated traffic rules in the vicinity of Rutgers and Cantor avenues shortly before 11:45 p.m.
Police say a brief investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of a loaded weapon.
The Jersey City Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect at this time.
