Police in Wayne arrested a Sewell man for endangering the welfare of two children in his care.
On Saturday, June 19, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Wayne Police Officers responded to the Home to Suites by Hilton on a report of a possible overdose.
According to police, upon arrival, officers found a male who was unconscious but breathing with an uncapped needle and syringe lying nearby. Officers observed that the male displayed indicators of opiate use.
Police said officers twice administered Narcan to the male before turning his care over to EMTs and paramedics. The male regained consciousness a short time later and was transported to a hospital.
According to police, officers spoke with witnesses who stated that they were alerted to the emergency when two young children who had been left in the male’s care came seeking help when the male was in the shower for an extended time.
A witness stated he found the male unconscious on the floor with the needle in his hand and began to administer first aid until police arrived.
Police said that upon his discharge from the hospital, Cameron Rowand, 32 of Sewell, was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 Counts). He was charged on a warrant and placed in Passaic County Jail pending arraignment.
The charges against Mr. Rowand are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
