Edison Township Mayor Sam Joshi has announced that a significant water main break early Thursday morning is affecting residents across multiple areas of the township.  AdThe incident occurred around midnight on December 26, when a 20-inch water main ruptured near M Lane and Woodbridge Avenue.

According to Mayor Joshi, the break impacts neighborhoods along Woodbridge Avenue, Route 27, and as far as Talmadge Road, leaving many residents with little to no water pressure.

“Our crews have been working diligently to isolate the break,” Joshi stated. “Once this is completed, repairs will begin immediately.”

At 3:10 p.m., a boil water advisory was issued for all Edison Water Utility customers. Residents are urged to boil water before consumption until further notice.

Due to the ongoing situation, Edison Town Hall is closed for the day.

Emergency crews and contractors are actively working to address the break, hoping to restore water service by the following morning.

In the meantime, Edison officials have established water distribution centers and public restrooms to assist those affected:

1. Firehouse Station C – 25 Plainfield Avenue (Water distribution)   2. Firehouse Station – 1997 Route 27 (Water distribution)   3. Edison Senior Center – 2963 Woodbridge Avenue (Open for public restrooms)

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community’s patience as we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible,” Mayor Joshi added.  AdResidents will continue to receive periodic updates as the situation progresses.

Anyone experiencing water-related emergencies is encouraged to contact Edison’s municipal offices for assistance.
