Patrick J. Camilli, 59, of Washington Township, New Jersey, has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for the 2021 murder of Mary E. Huber, according to information released by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
The case began on October 24, 2021, when Washington Township police responded to a 911 call at a private residence just after midnight.Upon arrival, officers discovered Camilli lying on the floor atop 51-year-old Huber, with a knife nearby.
Huber had suffered extensive stab wounds and bruises. She was transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, where she was pronounced dead. Camilli, who had self-inflicted stab wounds, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.
An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Squad and Washington
Township Police led to Camilli's arrest. An autopsy later revealed that Huber sustained at least 29 stab wounds and 20 blunt force injuries during the fatal attack.
Following a four-week trial in October 2024, a jury found Camilli guilty of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The trial was presided over by the Honorable James X. Sattely, P.J.S.C., in Bergen County Superior Court.
On December 6, 2024, Camilli was sentenced to life imprisonment in a New Jersey State Prison. The sentencing was handed down by Judge Sattely, marking the culmination of a case that shocked the Washington Township community.Prosecutor Musella emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the justice served in ensuring Camilli's life sentence.
