Newark Police reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr. Eugene Sparrow, 34, of Newark, on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with an incident that occurred on Monday, March 26th.
According to police, at approximately 11:25 p.m., a fight occurred between two groups of individuals in the 500-block of Clinton Avenue.
Police say after the crowd dispersed, a man from one of the groups fired a handgun at the second group then fled the scene on foot.
Police recovered a handgun on Farley Avenue.
Detectives investigating this incident have identified Eugene Sparrow as a suspect and have secured a warrant for his arrest.
While police are actively searching for Sparrow, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from city streets.
This investigation is ongoing.
