As Newark and the North Jersey region wake up to a warm morning at 73 degrees at 4:30 a.m., some parts of Somerset County are experiencing light rainfall, though it's far from a washout.
The National Weather Service forecasts a slight chance of rain persisting until 8 a.m., followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
The region will enjoy mostly sunny skies today, with temperatures peaking near a comfortable 86 degrees.
NWS forecasters said winds will be light and variable, shifting to the east at around six mph in the afternoon.
The chance of precipitation remains low at 20%.
Tonight, expect partly cloudy conditions with lows around 64 degrees.
