The Newark and North Jersey regions are experiencing a warm and clear start to the first day of summer, with temperatures already at 73 early this morning.
As summer officially begins at 4:50 p.m. today, residents can expect the mercury to rise into the 90s for the second consecutive day, with real-feel temperatures in the upper 90s.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the region will enjoy plenty of sunshine today, with a high near 96 degrees.
Winds will be from the southwest at 6 to 9 mph. Tonight, NWS meteorologists say the weather will shift slightly, becoming partly cloudy with a low of around 75 degrees.
Residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated as the summer season ushers in potentially challenging heat levels.
