Warm Start to Friday in Newark as Morning Showers Move In

Newark

My family and friends in Newark and northern New Jersey are starting their Friday with unseasonably warm temperatures, as the region experiences a mild morning that feels more like early summer.

Downtown Newark reported temperatures around 66 degrees just after sunrise, making it a comfortable start for commuters and early risers.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers moved through the area early this morning, but most of the rain is expected to clear out before 8 a.m.

If you're heading out for a walk or catching the train, you may still want to bring an umbrella just in case of lingering drizzle.

However, a light jacket should be more than enough to stay comfortable as skies gradually begin to clear throughout the day.

Forecasters say the rest of Friday will turn mostly sunny, with a high near 66 degrees and a light northwest breeze between 6 and 8 mph.

The chance of precipitation stands at 60%, but any additional rainfall is expected to be minimal—less than a tenth of an inch.

Looking ahead to tonight, conditions will cool down slightly, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 47 degrees.

Enjoy the mild weather—and have a great weekend, New Jersey!
