Newark residents are waking up to the coldest day of the week.

North Jersey begins the day with below-freezing temperatures across several areas, accompanied by a light breeze that adds an extra chill to the air.AdAs you step out of the house today, be prepared for temperatures that are freezing or hovering near that mark.

According to The National Weather Service (NWS), the weather forecast suggests a slight chance of rain showers after 10 a.m., which will likely mix with snow after 4 p.m.

The skies will mostly be cloudy throughout the day, with the high temperature barely reaching 43 degrees. Adding to the day's briskness, a northwest wind will blow at a speed of 6 to 15 mph.

As the evening approaches, NWS meteorologists say the cloud cover will gradually clear, but don't expect much relief from the cold. The night will see a low of around 29 degrees.

The wind chill factor will make it feel even colder, with values between 20 and 25 degrees.

Residents are advised to dress warmly to combat the freezing temperatures.

With layers and warm clothing, you can navigate this chilly Thursday with comfort. Have a great day, and stay warm.
