In recognition of National Preparedness Month this September, Vitalant is calling on all eligible donors to give blood and help ensure the nation’s blood supply is ready to meet patient needs, especially during emergencies.Blood that has already been donated is crucial for saving lives when disasters strike.
On September 4, 2024, New Jersey celebrates Blood Donation Day, following a proclamation by Governor Philip Murphy.
This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the continuous need for blood donors and encouraging those who are eligible to donate.
Donors of all blood types are important, but type O donors are especially critical in emergencies.
O-negative blood is often the first choice for doctors when there is no time to determine a patient's blood type, while O-positive is a close alternative.
As a token of appreciation, Vitalant is offering special rewards to donors from August 30 through September 4.
Those who donate during this period will receive a retro “Super Donor” T-shirt and a $10 gift card.
Starting September 5, donors will be automatically entered into the Pumpkin Spice Giveaway, with the chance to win one of five $5,000 prepaid gift cards.
Most people are eligible to donate, and the process takes about an hour. To check eligibility and schedule a donation, visit vitalant.org, use the Vitalant app, or call 877-25-VITAL.
