A violent stabbing that happened at a Quick Chek store in Totowa left one person dead overnight.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident that happened in the 70s block of Union Boulevard just after 3:30 a.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, an unidentified white male suspect reportedly pulled a sharp object and stabbed the victim at the Quick Check before running from the store. The victim allegedly knew the suspect according to reports.
Authorities say the victim suffered severe stab wounds to the shoulder and a leg injury when a police officer found him at the scene.
Police provided unsuccessful life-saving techniques before medical personnel pronounced the victim dead a short time after the stabbing.
Police detained a male suspect, but it is not immediately confirmed if this is the man who is wanted for the stabbing at this time.
The victim is not being reported as a store employee at this time.
