Police officials in Newark are investigating a violent stabbing attack on a person that has the victim fighting for their lives at a hospital in the city.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were notified of a critically wounded victim who arrived at University Hospital in a private vehicle suffering stab wounds just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say a brief investigation led them to the vicinity of 94 Spruce Street where they found blood evidence, a knife, and other evidence in the street at that location.
Officers detained several individuals but have not called them suspects at this time.
Officials say the victim's condition is listed as critical.
