Authorities in Newark are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals involved in the theft of a cell phone that occurred on Monday, July 1, 2024.Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said at approximately 11:30 a.m., a man shopping in a store in the 300 block of South Orange Avenue felt someone bump into him in an aisle of the store.
When the victim returned home, officials said, he noticed that his cell phone was missing from his backpack.
Officials stated the victim reported the phone stolen; it is a Samsung A12.
Detectives investigating this incident observed surveillance footage of the theft and requested the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspects, officials say.
According to officials, suspect 1 is a Hispanic female wearing a yellow shirt and shorts.
Suspect 2 is a Hispanic female wearing a blue Aeropostale shirt with white lettering on the front and the number 87 underneath in gray lettering, and she was also wearing black shorts, authorities say.
Officials said suspect 3 is a Hispanic male wearing a blue baseball cap and a yellow and blue striped shirt.
