The victim if a violent Newark carjacking was transported to the hospital after a suspects went on the attack to steal their car at a location in the city's North Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, just before 2:20 a.m., police were notified of a carjacking in progress that happened in the vicinity of Taylor Street and Summer Avenue.
Units arrived and found the victim suffering a head injury at that location.
Police say the victim reported that the suspect approached and demanded the vehicle before striking them in the head with a bottle. The unidentified assailant then sped away in the victim's 2002 Honda Civic.
According to police, the victim's injuries were considered non-life threatening, and the suspect remain at-large.
