Police set up a crime scene in a neighborhood in Linden as they searched for evidence to support a motive for a shots fired incident that connected on one person on Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Winans and 15th shortly before 12:50 a.m.
Police officers raced to the scene and found an unidentified person suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
As officers taped off the intersection, detectives marked off about a half dozen shell casings during the investigation. According to reports, the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and remained in serious condition.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
