Authorities in Somerset County are investigating a shooting that left a male critically injured late Thursday night in the Borough of Watchung.
According to a preliminary statement from police, officers were called to the single-digit block of Crystal Avenue around 9:00 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured individual inside a residence.
Upon arrival, first responders found an unidentified person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel immediately began CPR before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital.
As of the latest available update, the victim remains in critical condition.
Police have stated that, at this time, foul play is not suspected and the incident appears to be self-inflicted.
However, the investigation is still active and ongoing as authorities work to confirm the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
