An apparent strong armed carjacking that was reported in the city's North Ward has Police in Newark investigating.
The incident was reported in the area of Passaic Street and Gouverneur Street at around 5:45 a.m. where officers arriving to the scene located the victim who reported to them that two vehicles -only identifies as "Jeep Cherokees"- boxed his vehicle in while inside a parking lot of a business in the area.
The victim reportedly fled from the vehicle after feeling that his life was in danger, prompted the suspects to enter the vehicle, then speed away from the scene.
The carjacked vehicle is being reported as a** 2016 Dodge Coupe with Illinois license plate numbers "Y957172"** .
The suspects did not produce a weapon according to the victim.
Newark Police are investigating.
