Newark is waking up to another bitterly cold morning this Wednesday, with temperatures sitting at 26 degrees as the day begins. Factoring in the wind chill, it feels closer to 16 degrees – a reminder to dress warmly if heading outdoors.Gusty winds, currently at 27 mph, are expected to peak at around 35 mph as the day progresses, making it feel even colder.
The National Weather Service reports that while the day will remain mostly dry, light flurries are possible in parts of Sussex and Morris counties.
Today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will only reach a high of 31 degrees. Wind chill values between 5 and 15 degrees will persist throughout the day.
The blustery conditions will continue, with northwest winds reaching 10 to 20 mph and gusts as strong as 38 mph.
Tonight, the skies will remain mostly clear, but temperatures are expected to drop to around 21 degrees. Residents are advised to bundle up and take precautions against the freezing temperatures as the winter chill continues to grip.
