Newark Police are investigating a shooting that caused property damage in the Vailsburg section Sunday night.
Multiple police units responded to a ShotSpotter alert that detected 18 rounds of gunfire near 149 Sunset Avenue shortly before 10 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found several shell casings scattered on the scene and two unoccupied vehicles damaged by bullets. No injuries were reported.
Detectives quickly secured the area and called Newark’s Shooting Response Team to aid the investigation.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. No motive for the shooting has been reported at this time as the investigation continues.
