Officers from the Essex County Sheriff's Office recovered a vehicle in Newark that was reported stolen in Union County.
According to a preliminary investigation, Essex County Sheriff's Officers conducting patrol operations in Newark's North Ward came across a 2016 Jeep Cherokee with a reported NJ license plate number "Y19-JXB" near 45 Woodside Place around 3 a.m.
Police believe the unoccupied vehicle was at the address for a period of time after suspects ditched it in the neighborhood.
When officers arrived at the scene, police say a white Chevy Impala sped away from the vehicle with suspects inside who were reportedly connected to the Cherokee's theft.
The incident remains under investigation.
