Vehicle Stolen in Elizabeth, Chased by Fairfield Police, Last Seen in Newark

Police in western Essex County chased a vehicle that was stolen in Union County and was last seen traveling at a high rate of speed in Newark overnight. 

According to a preliminary investigation, Fairfield Police attempted to pull over a silver Honda Accord in their municipality when the driver ignored the officer's lights and siren and sped onto the eastbound lane of I-280.

Police said the suspected vehicle had reported NJ licensee plate numbers "Z73-MKK" and was stolen from Elizabeth. 

Fairfield officers followed the car into Newark, where they lost track of the car then notified Newark Police for assistance. 

There were no injuries reported.
