Police in Newark are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred in the city's South Ward on Monday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Chancellor Avenue and Leslie Street at approximately 2:45 p.m. where officers arrived and taped off the area after locating shell casings at that location.
Several suspects were observed firing shots in the area then fled the scene in a car.
Police say they found a bullet-riddled vehicle in the 40's block of Mount Vernon Avenue a short time later.
There were no injuries reported and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
