A woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Newark Wednesday morning was an employee at St. Michael's Medical Center .
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced on Wedenesday that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the fatal pedestrian strike.
Authorities said Srogi B. Grazyna, a 65 year old Elizabeth woman, was struck and killed in the vicinity of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Virginia Street in Newark at approximately 6 a.m. by a man driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
Authorities said the driver stopped and called for assistance.
Medics pronounced Grazyna dead at University Hospital at 6:30 a.m. authorities said.
Grazyna worked in the Endoscopy Department at St. Michael's Hospital for more than a dozen years officials said.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
At this time no charges have been filed against the driver of the Toyota authorities said.
