Essex County officials reported today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal stabbing of Mr. Hakeem Bateman 51, of Newark.
According to Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Robert Florida, on June 29, at 9:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a possiblestabbing on the 900 block of Franklin Avenue in Newark.
Officials said Police found Bateman outside that location suffering from an apparent stab wound.
He was transported to University Hospital in Newark and pronounced dead at 10:03 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
A woman was detained at the scene but no reports of charges have been filed at this time.
