Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, reported that an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Newark on Sunday, July 28.
County officials said at approximately 11:23 p.m., officers from the Newark Police Department responded to a report of a woman shot at the intersection of 4th Avenue and North 12th Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered Ms. Brielle Alston, 31, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
She was immediately transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, including detectives from the Newark Police Department, is actively investigating the incident.
