Police have released the identity of the 38-year-old woman murdered in Jersey City.
According to police, at approximately 2:15 this morning, Jersey City Police Officers were dispatched to 36 Duncan Avenue on a report that a woman had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers observed an unresponsive female victim with apparent stab wounds located in the hallway outside one of the apartments.
The victim, later identified as Milagros Rodriguez De Morel, 38, of Jersey City, who lived at that address, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m. The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police arrested the victim’s husband, Jose Morel, 59, of Jersey City, at the scene and charged him with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
