Transit officials said at approximately 9:39 a.m., a train that was out of service for customers and was being moved along the Bergen County Line when it struck and fatally injured an adult female pedestrian at Van Winkle Avenue in Garfield.
Officials said there were no injuries to the eight crew members on board.
No customers were on board the train according to officials.
Currently, service on the Main-Bergen County Line is suspended in both directions.
New Jersey Transit police are on scene leading the investigation.
