Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced that Ms. Rabia Allen, 21, of Newark, has been arrested and charged with the stabbing murder of Mr. Gibril Young, 26, also of Newark.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, on the morning of Nov. 30th, Newark Police responded to a call in the 100 block of Parker Street.
Authorities said upon officer's arrival, they discovered Young suffering from a stab wound and medics pronounced dead at the scene.
Late Friday, police charged Allen with Young's murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
Authorities are holding Allen at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
The investigation, which is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, is active and ongoing.
