Union county authorities are investigating the cause of a crash that killed a Warren County man and injured another male in Hillside Saturday night.
Hillside Police Chief Vincent Ricciardi said before 10:00 p.m., a driver traveling southbound on North Broad in the area of Hillside Avenue appeared to have lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, and overturned in front of 16 Hillside Avenue.
According to Chief Ricciardi, the driver, a 27-year-old man from Washington, Twp. (Warren County) was killed in the crash of the black 1999 Jeep Cherokee he was driving.
Chief Ricciardi said his only passenger, a 33-year-old man, also from Washington, Twp. (Warren County), was successfully extricated from the vehicle and transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he is in an unknown condition.
The incident is under investigation by the Hillside Police Traffic Division.
