Update: Victim of "Knockout Game" in Jersey City Remains Critical; Arrest Made

A Jersey City man who was violently punched and robbed last night remains in critical condition.

A city man who of personal possessions by several black male suspects in the area Ocean Avenue and Winfield Avenue a short time ago.

Police were called to the area of Ocean Avenue between Claremont and Orient avenues sometime around 9:30 p.m. for a report of unconscious man victim of the alleged "knockout" game.

According to victim's son-in-law, a group of approximately seven males - between the ages of 15-19 years of age - approached the victim.

The unidentified victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health where he remains in critical condition. 

After a search of the area, police located a group of seven males in the area of Clerk Street. The  victim's son-in-law was able to identify the males as the suspects involved in the assault. Officers there arrested Gerald Rosario, 19, after he was identified as the person who threw the punch.

Rosario was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim. 

The six other males have not been arrested nor charged as of this update.

The incident remains under investigation.
