NJ State Police are looking into the cause of a crash that killed two people in Passaic County.
According to police, the crash occurred at 8:23 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC Suburban was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, ran off the left side of the road, struck the concrete barrier, and overturned.
According to police, the GMC then entered the northbound lanes and struck a Cadillac XT-4, a Toyota Camry, a Nissan Altima, and a Volkswagen Passat.
The driver of the GMC, Ms. Sandra Vanderslice, 57, Philadelphia and a rear seat passenger of the Toyota Mr. Maxim Viscio, 29, Jersey City, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota sustained severe injuries, and the driver and two passengers of the Volkswagen sustained moderate injuries.
Police say the driver of the Cadillac and the driver of the Nissan were not injured in the crash.
The northbound lanes of the Parkway were closed for approximately 4 hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
