State Police are investigating a crash that occurred on I-80 on Monday morning.
According to state police, the crash occurred at 3:01 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near MP 1.8 in Knowlton Township.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda SUV was traveling east on I-80 when it struck two pedestrians.
According to state police, both pedestrians sustained fatal injuries, and the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The identifications of the deceased are pending next of kin notification.
State police said that I-80 eastbound was closed for 3 hours resulting in heavy traffic congestion.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
