Emergency responders worked the scene of a severe crash on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean Cunty Friday night.
It happened around 9:20 p.m. in the highway's southbound lanes near mile marker 59.3 in Tuckerton.
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash involved multiple overturned vehicles, with two people unconscious and trapped in one car.
Firefighters and rescue crews found a third person suffering severe injuries and trapped inside a vehicle.
New Jersey State Police will lead the active and ongoing investigation.
The cause of the collision has not been determined at this time.
