The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday, January 18, in Jersey City.
Police were alerted to the incident shortly after 11:00 p.m. in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street.
Responding officers discovered two female victims inside a motor vehicle on Oak Street with apparent gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, identified as 15-year-old Cianna Lee of Jersey City, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center.
She was pronounced dead shortly after 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, January 19. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The second victim, a 37-year-old female relative of Lee, was also taken to Jersey City Medical Center.
She is being treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have not made any arrests and are actively investigating the case.
