Newark Police are reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent robbery.The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 21, around 8:57 p.m. on the 300 block of Chestnut Street.
According to police reports, a man walking in the area was attacked from behind. The assailant, a male suspect, put the victim in a chokehold and demanded his belongings.
Fortunately, the victim managed to escape, and the suspect subsequently fled eastbound towards Van Buren Street.
The victim, who suffered injuries during the robbery, received treatment at University Hospital and has since been released.As detectives continue their investigation, they are calling for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect involved in this violent act.
