Police in Newark seek the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday, January 6, 2023.
According to Newark Police, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers responded to Spring Street near Clay Street on a call of shots fired.
Responding officers located a male shot at that location. Police say EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in serious but stable condition.
Detectives investigating this incident observed surveillance footage of the suspect brandishing a firearm, discharging the weapon, and shooting the victim.
Police said the suspect is described as a black male wearing a black North Face coat, dark-colored pants, and black and white Nike sneakers.
Residents in the building said they have expressed security concerns in and around the building several times to police and management.
Nothing has been done about their concerns, residents said.
