UPDATE: Suspect Wanted for Newark's Garside Avenue Robbery

Police officials in Newark request the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect wanted for a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, September 11th.

According to a statement released by Newark Police, at approximately 11 a.m., a man was talking on his cell phone when a male suspect approached, struck the man with his fist, and snatched a gold chain from the victim’s neck.

Police say the suspect fled heading south on Garside Street, then east on 4th Avenue. He is described as in his early twenties, 6-ft. tall and 175 lbs. with black hair. Police say the suspect wore a blue shirt and black shorts.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, they seek the public’s help in quickly identifying him so he can be removed from city streets.
