UPDATE: Suspect Arrested for Newark Restaurant Robberies Using Carjacked Vehicle from Harrison

Police in Newark arrested Mr. Deion Nance, 25, of Newark, in connection with an armed robbery at the drive-thru window of Taco Bell, located at 350 Broad.

Police say Nance drove the vehicle, which had been reported carjacked at gunpoint in Harrison.

According to police, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the suspect drove up to the drive-thru window at Taco Bell and demanded cash from the restaurant’s employee at gunpoint.

The victim complied, handing over $176.00 in cash before the suspect drove off, heading east on Clay Street from Broad Street.

Police are also trying to determine if Nance is wanted for a robbery shortly at the Burger King across the street. 

He was apprehended at Route 280 after officers observed a vehicle fitting the description used in the robbery.

Nance faces charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm for an illegal purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
