The New Jersey State Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike.
According to state police officials, the crash happened at approximately 11:08 p.m. in the southbound lanes on the inner roadway near milepost 104.9 in Newark.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Mr. Miguel Sanchez, 40, of Fayetteville, N.C., was laying in the roadway when he was struck by a Honda Accord. Sanchez sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
State Police reported that the southbound inner roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours resulting in minimal traffic congestion.
This crash is still under investigation.
