Family and friends took to social media to grieve over the loss of 21-year-old Jamal (Mally) Gaines.
Police responded to the 1500 block of Irving Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. Friday to find Gaines suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Task Force, the Rahway Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office’s Identification Unit.

Gaines graduated Rahway High School with dreams and goals that many at his short age would not even ponder. For the past several years he has watched his Rahway sneaker boutique grow.
